Five Minutes

another new one....

OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes for the prompt:

Waking Up….

I hate waking up....mostly because I go to bed too late trying to get things done.  I spend the day sleepy...makes for a long day.  I like Saturdays, cuz even though I still get up early, I can usually go back to bed for a bit.  Once these dogs are no longer my responsibility, I can enjoy waking up a bit more....I will still be sleepy, but I won't feel so rushed.

Another thought I have about waking up is that, sometimes, the expectations you have for a day when it begins sometimes never comes to fruition.  Like today.  I got to work, planning to get things accomplished, not expecting to see  my boss, as he is supposed to be on vacation.  Well he comes in...and drops a bombshell on the dept.  One, we have lost one of our team members.....due to extenuating circumstances, she can no longer work at our facility.

But the biggest news is that he has resigned.  He was contacted by a recruiter...and has now accepted a position at another company that will allow him to further utilize and expand his skills.  While I am happy for him as it is a great opportunity....I am very saddened that he is leaving.  I have a great deal of respect for him professionally and have learned much from him in the 7.5 years we have worked together.  He has also become a friend during that time.  Of course there is the uncertainty of who will replace him and the added responsibilities in the interim.  My already too full platter will soon become a full course meal!

We have had a running joke for several years....he has always told me that if I ever leave, he will kill me.  I have told him if he ever leaves, I will be going with him.  I reminded him of that today....and he confirmed that he remembers.

I'm sorry you are losing a boss you like. That is so rare to work with someone you enjoy being around and it sure makes the work day better! I hope the transition goes well and someone takes his position that you can continue to enjoy working with.

Blessings,
Mel

Hmmmm does this mean he is taking you with him? Hard to wake up to unexpected things, huh?

Possibly, at some point. And yes, I don't do surprises like that very well....
